After spending three nights with my dear mother-in-law, we set off home at lunchtime today. As the route takes us through the Harz Mountains along the Brocken, the highest mountain in northern Germany, we decided to take a closer look at it. We took a detour through Wernigerode, a quaint little town with lots of half-timbered houses, and drove up the mountain.
